Preliminary Task evaluation

1) Why did you choose this particular recreation and how does it link to your main production?

This links to my critical investigation because the black character in the video is bunking school which links to stereotypes and its reinforcement. The idea that black youth are troubled or not educated is also shown throughout the music clip.


2) What difficulties did you face in producing this recreation?

The lighting from the sun was an issue that we faced as a group because in the music video the lighting was shown in the characters face however our setting had shade. We overcame this by waiting for a while until the sun light moved into the area that we were filming in.


3) What are the strengths of the production?

The shots and the camera angles looked professional because it showed shots from inside the car and also outside the car looking inside. Also, the lighting was clear which showed a match with the original video.


4) What aspects would you look to improve?

Something that we would like to have improved was the setting. In the original clip there were children in the background seeing as it was outside school. This is important in creating a direct correlation to the actual music video.


5) What lessons will you take from this process that will help you with your main production?

We will consider lighting and sound which are both very big aspects in filming and we will look to make those perfect in order to create a professional video clip that has good lighting and sound.


6) Now that you are ready to start your actual linked production, explain clearly what you will be creating and how confident you are in delivering this.

In our production we will be recreating a music video similar to what we done in our preliminary task. However, we will aim to make it much better with better quality and hopefully make it as close as possible to the original.
